Refuelling in Luxembourg no longer cheaper
Are you going on holiday by car this summer? Then there’s good news for those who prefer to fill up in their own country: it’s becoming less and less worthwhile to make a detour via Luxembourg for cheaper fuel. Where it used to be a popular stopover, the price difference is often negligible nowadays.

What has changed?
For years, Luxembourg was known as the place to refuel at a good price. Petrol drivers in particular liked to take a detour to save a few euros on a full tank. But times have changed.
According to recent figures, petrol prices in Belgium are now often just as low or even lower than in Luxembourg, reports HLN. So driving those extra kilometres is usually no longer worth it, especially if you end up consuming more fuel than you save.
So be sure to check our handy station finder to see where our last station near the border is located. That way, you can still benefit from sharp prices at the last moment!
When is Luxembourg still worthwhile?
-
Diesel drivers may still find a small price advantage locally, although that difference is decreasing.
-
If you’re passing through Luxembourg anyway, of course you can still refuel there. But making a detour solely for cheaper fuel rarely pays off anymore.
